Benefiting children by giving them new chores often has been proven to be quite the buzz. A thousand children who had always had regular chores from the age of three were studied. Of the thousand, nine-hundred and ninety children had a positive response when asked to perform a chore never attempted before. All nine hundred and ninety were willing to try the second new task, and nine hundred and thirty seven were willing to give the third new task a try.

The benefit of chores is a lifetime payoff. Learning from a young age that taking on the responsibility of performing a chore can teach a child how to save money. Saving money can be beneficial in many ways. Having money can buy life’s necessities, and grant you things wanted in life. A lesson many of us need to learn as adults.

If taught as a child, chores can give you a real sense of independence. Children that learn new chores have a greater sense of accomplishment, which is directly linked to independent thinking. Independence is usually a trade mark of successful people.

Payoffs were apparent, children learn early that chores are part of life and can be fun and accomplished. Having a sense of pride and readiness to plunge in on a new endeavor was seen as fun and exciting.

Clearly, reliability can be taught very early on in our development. Doctors and parents agree that learning new tasks increases a child’s sense of independence and reliability. It has been shown that the earlier we learn that tasks can be accomplished, the better off we are academically. Therefore, we should teach children that chores pay. Being reliable can, and does predict our future of success.
