The Fast Method Of Deep Cleaning Bathrooms
We all have bathrooms and shower rooms in our homes. All of these generally get used a considerable amount during the course of a single day especially if there are children in the household. Consequently they can become very quickly devastated areas. Clearing up and cleaning them is often one chore that we hate but it should still be done on a daily basis. Deep cleaning the shower or bathroom should be an activity that we undertake at least once in each and every month. If the bathroom is used heavily in for example a household containing a number of young adults then this deep cleaning should be carried out more frequently.
The more frequent the deep cleaning is the more you can keep on top of the build up of grime and dirt and the quicker and easier the cleaning becomes each time until it reaches a point where it becomes normal routine. That way you will always be able to take a pride in your bathrooms and never get caught out by that unexpected visitor. By and large we are often judged as individuals by the cleanliness or otherwise of our bathrooms or toilet areas which are open to visitors.
Everybody has their normal bathroom cleaning routine and what is cleaned within the room each time such as sink, bath and toilet and this you continue with. Outlined below are additional guides and information which will help you achieve success quickly and easily when it comes to the deep cleaning of these features and units within your bath or shower rooms.
Lime scale can build up over time, particularly in hard water areas, and can make bathrooms look dirty and run-down. Using a general bathroom cleaning solution is not usually enough to shift these deposits; instead an acid de-scaling solution is called for. Professional products are the best at doing this quickly and effectively but more and more products are coming into the domestic market that really are quite good.
In the bathroom or shower room limescale will be every where, it will be coating every surface even though you may not actually be able to see it. Consequently every surface should be sprayed in turn with your de-scaling product. That means you spray all the ceramic surfaces, tiles and glass. This includes the bath and shower tray where your product will quickly help you remove the body fat deposits as well as any visible limescale. Around the base of taps you could use an old toothbrush to scrub them. Any where there has been a large scale build up then you may need to chip it after applying your product using something like a chisel headed screw driver or similar. Be careful not to scratch the ceramics or metal surfaces when doing this. Limescale normally chips off with minimum effort. When used on toilet bowls empty the water out as far as possible before applying your product. You can do this by pushing it out using your toilet brush. Again the ring of limescale may require chipping. These products can be used on metallic surfaces with caution. If left on taps for too long then they can start to strip the chrome from them. Do not use them on brass fittings as they will quickly cause a deterioration and dulling of the fitting. Having applied your descaler simply wipe dry with a clean cloth. Any metal fitting will require rinsing to ensure that the product has been completely removed.
The majority of bathrooms eventually succumb to the problem of dirty and discoloured grout lines. Whenever we wipe the tiles we leave tiny dirt deposits within these grooves and over time this will become visible. No matter how hard you scrub at these you cannot get them clean. The only sure way of getting rid of the dirt is to remove and replace the grout which is time consuming and expensive. The alternative is to cover it up or disguise it. There are specialised paint pens for colouring grout now available on the market but again this is a laborious and tedious process. A much faster and easier method is to bleach the dirt. Using undiluted bleach and a toothbrush rub in copious amounts of the bleach into the grout lines. As long as the tiles are ceramic you do not need to be too careful as to where the bleach actually goes so long as it is not over yourself. Consequently wear protective gloves and goggles to afford you adequate protection from accidental splashes. Leave this in place for several minutes so that it can bleach the dirt and then wash off using plenty of water. You should now have lovely white grout once again.
A major problem that many bathrooms have, especially those which suffer from excessive condensation is the growth of mould or mildew along the grout lines and sealant areas. Supermarkets sell a variety of products which will do the job quite effectively and if you choose this method then simply follow the instructions on the bottle. However if you wish to save some money then you can very easily make up your own mixture. All you need is a clean and empty spray bottle and some bleach. Mix the bleach with water in the ratio of three parts hot water to one part bleach. This is then sprayed onto the affected areas until they are thoroughly soaked and then go and have a cup of coffee whilst it does its work. After about 20 minutes wash off with plenty of water and dry the area using clean dry cloths. Some stubborn areas may require you to agitate your mixture. Again you can use the old toothbrush to do this but do be careful of splashes so protect yourself appropriately.
If you have a shower unit over the bath with the area protected by a plastic shower curtain then over time this curtain can become discoloured and get a mildew covering. You can use your bleach spray on this also and then wash off using the shower. Alternatively, especially if the problem is serious just fill the bath with about two inches of water mix in some bleach and then immerse the curtain in this and leave for about 30 minutes before rinsing it off thoroughly. Either way you should produce a new looking shower curtain to brighten your bathroom.
It is not advisable to use anything other than soft cloths for this cleaning, nothing with abrasive qualities should be used otherwise you can end up scratching surfaces which are made of meta, glass, acrylics, or plastic. Also if your bathroom contains, marble limestone or granite under no circumstance should you carry out any of the above procedures. If you have a problem in a bathroom composed of natural stone then you would be best advised to call in the specialists.
