Spring Cleaning Smarts
Winter is long gone and spring has set in bringing with it an eagerness for tidying up, right? All this makes you want to deep clean your carpets, scrub down those cupboards, and deodorize the fridge. Making for a robust list of things to tackle before summer hits.
To make it easier for you here are nine or so super spring cleaning tips to help you clean your house step by step.
Stinky microwave? No problem. Just boil some water mixed with few slices of lemon in your microwave and in no time your microwave will smell lemony fresh.
Want to maintain a fresh clean look to your curtains? Don’t forgo vacuuming them for longer than 6 months. And don’t leave behind the dirt hiding in the pleats. Dry cleaning them once every 2-3 years is also a good idea.
Having nightmares about cleaning greasy walls? WD-40 can work wonders. Just spray then wipe to get perfectly stain-free walls.
Musty odors lingering? Take your favorite perfume or cologne and mist a switched off, cool bulb with it. When you next flip the switch a pleasing fragrance is guaranteed to envelop the room. As for any smell lingering in your closets just hang some charcoal briquettes which will act as a natural deodorizer.
Shower curtain covered with so much yucky mildew and soap scum you dread having it touch you? Easy. Throw it in the washer with a couple of bath towels and it will look just out-of-the-box new again.
Your washer and dryer require a good cleaning cycle themselves. For the washer add two quarts of white vinegar then let it run through the entire wash cycle to eliminate any nasty soap scum that’s built up. Next hit the dryer’s lint filter with a used dryer sheet followed up with a separate washing using soap and water. To remove lint that’s accumulated in the slot the filter fits into try your vacuum’s upholstery attachment.
For pet hair clinging to the upholstery or wall hangings do this. Mix two ounces of liquid fabric softener with a cup and half or so of water and spray near the fabrics to eliminate the static cling. Doing so makes it easier to brush the hair off and vacuum it away.
Finally vacuuming is likely something most of us don’t do enough. Or we do too fast. It helps to prevent sand, dirt and grit from settling into the pile if you vacuum the high traffic areas two or three times a week. Making like six or seven passes for each section. Then once a week get the rest and run the vacuum head over them at least three or four times.
So there you go. Follow these tips and you too can start to get your house in great shape to welcome spring and then summer.
